Persona 4 Fan Fiction
1 More Chance!
In early 2009, the videogame “Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4”, by game developer Atlus, stole over 100 hours of my life. It also stole a little piece of my heart.
The game follows mostly-silent protagonist Seta Souji/Narukami Yu, but I identified with high-kicking girl sidekick Satonaka Chie. Chie was a tomboy. She trained hard. She fought monsters to protect her friends. She ate steak like a wolverine. And she bullied the boy she liked because she wasn’t confident enough to just be herself around him, and let herself be open to her tenderer emotions. At least, that was the way I played it.
From 2009 until 2012 or so, the characters of P4 took over my imagination, prompting me to write the massive serial “1 More Chance!”. This story is the centerpiece of my version of events that take place about 5 years after the end of the game (2017-2018). It focuses on Chie and her relationships with her friends and family, but everyone has a role and a subplot, if you look hard enough.
1 More Chance! Warnings
1 More Chance! is out-of-control long – it’s over 1000 pages. I could get that to a more reasonable number with some editing (which the story certainly could use)…but I wrote it as a kind of prose-manga, designed to be consumed in pieces over a long period of time. The characters are also quite sexual. I debated going back and softening some of those scenes, but as with all of my older stories, I decided that it is what it is and who was I to pass judgment on my younger, more indulgent self?
Other P4 stories
1 More Chance! occupies center stage in my P4 universe, but it is not alone. I wrote a few stories focused on some of the other characters. A few hits, a few misses, and a lot in-between. Use the links to check them out while I work on getting 1 More Chance! ready for reading again.

1000 Words : The kanji for her name means 1000 Words, but for Yousuke, even that’s not enough to fully describe Satonaka.
Firebrand : It doesn’t much matter, in the end. End of term, 2012, and Yukiko and Souji on the rooftop of Yasogami High.
I Can’t : They say it so many times, they can almost believe it. Kanji and Rise.
The Unhidden Truth : Rise is a liar. Naoto knows this.
Run : Ai never ran anywhere, until it was too late.
My first (WordPress) blog year
I've kept blogs for a few years, now, but this marks the first year I've been with WordPress. I have to say, it's been the most rewarding blogging experience I've had, yet. Not that Blogger didn't make me feel welcome, but it didn't exactly allow for the free and lush...
100-Word Challenge: Shattered Silence
It's Week 69 for the 100-Word Challenge for Grown-Ups! This week, Julia is being particularly timely, with the prompt of …Bah Humbug!…. I've been writing plenty of 100-word stories for the Nightingales, but this one struck a familiar chord in me, as it's based on a...
Good traits v. Bad traits
I've seen in circulation a list of character personality traits, that, on one side, lists strengths - what people typically consider "good" traits - and, on the other corresponding side, faults - what people typically consider "bad" traits. The interesting thing is...
My Booker Award
Before NaNoWriMo hit me over the head with its massive mallet, I was nominated for the Booker Award, by the lovely itsjennythewren. (Sorry it's taken me so long to acknowledge!) That description fits me well! 😀 For the Booker Award, I'm to list my top five favorite...

Pillow Talk
Breathless, sweaty, and dizzy of a sudden, Ross tumbled to the bed beside her, one arm still draped loosely around her. They would need to clean up and wash before bed, but, for the moment, he just wanted to lie with her in the drowsy quiet. So, settling his head next...
Identity, and 100WCGU: “It should have stayed that way” [Fearless]
Though currently embroiled in my NaNoWriMo tale of soldiers and stowaways, I was abruptly struck by Julia's prompt for this week's 100-Word Challenge for Grown-Ups: ...the silence was deafening... WordPress and Twitter friends itsjennythewren and sjbwriting said I...
Dissecting video
A few weeks ago, the fine folks over at Limebird Writers celebrated their first anniversary. To commemorate, they had a contest with a bunch of fantabulous prizes that would make any aspiring writer's quill quiver with eager excitement, mine included. My video didn't...
In the mirror
When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? Take a moment, and think about how you'd describe yourself. If I were going for strict facts, I'd say I'm an Asian female, five-foot-one, brown eyes, dark hair, slight build, no visible distinguishing marks....
On NaNo: “That is One Big Pile of S***”
Wednesdays in this blog's schedule are reserved for fiction pieces...but National Novel Writing Month is all about writing fiction, so it sort of fits. To those writers attempting NaNo, whether for the first or fifth time: we're going to need dedication to the story,...
