Persona 4 Fan Fiction
1 More Chance!
In early 2009, the videogame “Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4”, by game developer Atlus, stole over 100 hours of my life. It also stole a little piece of my heart.
The game follows mostly-silent protagonist Seta Souji/Narukami Yu, but I identified with high-kicking girl sidekick Satonaka Chie. Chie was a tomboy. She trained hard. She fought monsters to protect her friends. She ate steak like a wolverine. And she bullied the boy she liked because she wasn’t confident enough to just be herself around him, and let herself be open to her tenderer emotions. At least, that was the way I played it.
From 2009 until 2012 or so, the characters of P4 took over my imagination, prompting me to write the massive serial “1 More Chance!”. This story is the centerpiece of my version of events that take place about 5 years after the end of the game (2017-2018). It focuses on Chie and her relationships with her friends and family, but everyone has a role and a subplot, if you look hard enough.
1 More Chance! Warnings
1 More Chance! is out-of-control long – it’s over 1000 pages. I could get that to a more reasonable number with some editing (which the story certainly could use)…but I wrote it as a kind of prose-manga, designed to be consumed in pieces over a long period of time. The characters are also quite sexual. I debated going back and softening some of those scenes, but as with all of my older stories, I decided that it is what it is and who was I to pass judgment on my younger, more indulgent self?
Other P4 stories
1 More Chance! occupies center stage in my P4 universe, but it is not alone. I wrote a few stories focused on some of the other characters. A few hits, a few misses, and a lot in-between. Use the links to check them out while I work on getting 1 More Chance! ready for reading again.

Links to each of the Arcs – there’s 4 of them – or possibly each of the chapters will go here. Let me know in the comments how you’d like to see them! This archive is for you, after all.

Each link will take you to a standalone post for these stories.
1000 Words : The kanji for her name means 1000 Words, but for Yousuke, even that’s not enough to fully describe Satonaka.
Firebrand : It doesn’t much matter, in the end. End of term, 2012, and Yukiko and Souji on the rooftop of Yasogami High.
I Can’t : They say it so many times, they can almost believe it. Kanji and Rise.
The Unhidden Truth : Rise is a liar. Naoto knows this.
Run : Ai never ran anywhere, until it was too late.
Fathers of a different sort [AKA, yet another “Finding Mister Wright” free write]
For Father's Day weekend, we enjoyed good food, good company, and good memories. Of course, I thought a lot about the fathers in my family, but the occasion made me think about my own paternal creations, too. I'm off to a work conference for this week, so I won't be...
Down Days (plus a “Finding Mister Wright” short!)
I'd felt pretty down on myself the last few days. It happens: every so often, I look at my various hit statistics and comment numbers, and I start to doubt my skill, especially in comparison to other writers. It always seems like everybody else is getting hundreds of...
When Characters Speak
Anyone who's read my longer works is likely well aware of my penchant for, shall we say, raunchier material. Admittedly, writing sex is a relaxing outlet for me. It puts me in touch with my characters in ways unmatched by any other technique I've yet found. But, like...
My May writing recap
My “No Sex with Ax and Hal” 30-day writing challenge is officially finished! Only 1 or 2 people read most of it, but that’s okay. I accomplished what I set out to do, which was to write - and post - a complete vignette/chapter/scene every day for 30 days straight. (It...
Update
I've been away from blogger land for a while, but I'm getting better. Thanks to everyone for your emails, messages, and support. It's meant a lot just to know I'm not alone. Just a brief update to assure those of my followers who are still with me that I'm not dead....
A New Day for “From Hell”
As of 10:22pm ET, Thursday, March 12, 2015, I finished the content pass edit of my pseudo-novel, the homoerotic space opera western From Hell: A Love Story. I started my Borderlands story of “How the Commando Got His Turret” in July 2013. It's grown and changed quite...
“The Best Simplicity” [Another “Finding Mister Wright” short]
I'm currently finishing up my 2014 NaNoWriMo story, but, yesterday, I got a flash idea for a short Valentine's Day free-write. As most of my free-writes tend to be, this one takes place in my "Finding Mister Wright" universe, with its familiar cast of characters. Like...
January 2015 (writing) recap
I figured I'd better put something up here so folks haven't think I've died or otherwise slipped off the planet. While it may seem - from the non-existence of posts on this blog since the end of 2014 - that I haven't been doing any writing, I've actually been doing a...
Mayumi-H’s 2014 in review
Apparently, WordPress has monkeys working for them, to calculate my 2014 statistics. That sounds about right, I think. This was a weird year for me. I wouldn't want to repeat it, but I definitely learned a lot. The one thing this recap post doesn't recognize is that I...
Christmas Story Swap [“Tuxedos and Sugar Plum Fairies: Another ‘Finding Mister Wright’ short story”]
When my sister and I were little girls, we had a tradition of writing and swapping Christmas stories. Mostly, this was a way for us to kill time on early Christmas mornings when we weren't allowed to run downstairs and clamor under the tree. Over time, though, it...
